Jared R. Friz: Killed in a climbing accident outside Leavenworth on April 25th

LEAVENWORTH – A Bellevue man is dead after falling Friday night at a popular climbing spot outside of Leavenworth.

Jared R. Friz, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene after the fall was reported around 7 p.m. on Friday. He had climbed with a group giving CPR until help came.

He had climbed Bruce’s Boulder, a rock wall along Icicle Road. Chelan County’s coroner Wayne Harris said some of the anchors Friz set on his ascent gave way and he fell about 30 feet. Friz has been described as a seasoned climber originally from Denton, Texas.

A GoFundMe campaign was created to cover funeral expenses and expenses for Friz’s widow.
