Police are investigating the climbing death of a Connecticut man at Mohonk Preserve in Gardiner town on Labor Day.

The Ulster County Sheriff announced Tuesday that police and rescue workers had been called to the Trapps Bridge area at 5:30 p.m. Monday about a fallen climber and they found Stephen M. Buda III, 56, of New Haven, Connecticut , had climbed about 150 -175 feet of a popular 200-foot climb when it fell.

Authorities said Buda was not wearing any climbing or safety gear at the time of the incident.
Police said they do not suspect foul play in the incident, but they are still investigating.
