PITTSBURGH, April 15, 2021 / PRNewswire / – DICK’S Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) announced today that it has become a founding partner of Black Coaches United (BCU) – an organization dedicated to harnessing its collective reach to create change advocate and promote a more diverse and equitable society and inclusive environment for future leaders; and create programs to support basketball coaches at all levels of the game.
Through this partnership, DICK’S BCU will support:
- Providing training, mentoring and advocacy programs for trainers across the country;
- Assistance and assistance in the production of a wide variety of BCU events; and
- Assisting in creating programs that enable trainers to better educate and empower the young people they work with on a daily basis, with an emphasis on children of color.

The founders of the BCU (https://thebcu.org/#Founders) are among the most successful sports leaders. BCU members were founded in September 2020 and have access to mentoring programs. Webinars with executives from various industries; and annual programs to facilitate closer ties with community leaders, citizens, and law enforcement agencies. Most recently, the BCU ran a coaching clinic ahead of the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball championship weekend. This clinic can be viewed by all members on the BCU website and has coach Tubby Smith of High Point University, Kia Damon-Olson of Lafayette College, Cuonzo Martin from the University of Missouri and Frank Haith of the University of Tulsa.
