River City Outdoors activates an extensive network of community actors who are committed to making outdoor recreational opportunities more accessible and fairer for their region. Her work focuses on five key initiatives:
Rivertime: Engaging and encouraging St. Louisans to explore our river resources, partnering with St. Louis Public Schools to give all 6th and 7th grades the opportunity to paddle one of the major rivers (Missouri or Mississippi) and the Engaging youth in educational watersheds and working with river groups to make the Missouri River more accessible and ultimately nationally recognized as a waterway. Pedal Programs: Partnered with the Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League to develop youth mountain bike teams in northern St. Louis County and south St. Louis City. Outdoor Recreation Adventure Clubs and Youth Leadership Program: Working with Boys & Girls Clubs and other youth-focused organizations to develop long-term outdoor recreational programs that include climbing, paddling, camping, fishing, biking, and more, diverse grassroots, outdoor community groups and events are gaining traction and capacity through mentoring opportunities, education, marketing and fundraising support, increasing the number and frequency of cleanup and beautification events in the neighborhoods, and promoting more outdoor recreational opportunities in the neighborhoods To create a healthy and welcoming environment for city residents and visitors.
