Palo Duro Canyon State Park in the Texas Panhandle was voted one of the top 10 campsites in the United States by The Dyrt, the # 1 camping app in the iOS and Android app stores.
The app has compiled a list of the top 10 best US campsites of 2021.
With more than 1.5 million reviews and tips for more than 45,000 campsites, The Dyrt put the numbers on the top 10 list with a combination of reviews, number of reviews, and the quality, length, and type of reviews.
The result is diverse and ranges from remarkable national park sites to hidden treasures:
10. Camp Rockaway – New York
9. Palo Duro Canyon State Park – Texas
8. Monte Sano State Park – Alabama
7. Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort – Washington
6. Fort De Soto Campsite – Florida
5. Split Rock State Park – Minnesota
4. Goblin Valley State Park – Utah
3. Alabama Hills Recreation Area – California
2. Havasu Falls – Arizona
1. Jenny Lake – Wyoming
According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife website, visitors can explore the canyon on foot, mountain bike, horseback, or car as the park has more than 30 miles of hiking, biking, and riding trails.
Campers can choose between pitches with water and electricity, tent sites, riding arenas or backpack campsites.

Co-founder Sarah Smith conceptualized The Dyrt so she knew where to camp and what spots to reserve.
“With all the camping reviews that come up at The Dyrt every day, I have endless camping options to add to my bucket list,” she said in a press release. “Starting The Dyrt has given me the opportunity to inspire not just myself but the entire camping community to camp more and explore new places.”
Interest in camping has skyrocketed in recent years as health trends and the pandemic have pushed more people to go outside. In fact, 71% of campers planned to camp more in 2021 than in 2020.
