ANOKA, Minnesota (BRAIN) – Vista Outdoor’s Action Sports division, which includes bicycle accessory brands Giro, Bell, and Blackburn, posted sales growth of 26% in the most recent quarter. The division’s revenue was $ 92.1 million, compared to $ 72.9 million for the same period last year.
Vista Outdoor’s Outdoor Recreation division includes another brand of interest to the bicycle industry: CamelBak. This division’s revenue increased 49% from $ 72 million in the same period last year to $ 107 million this year. In addition to CamelBak, the Outdoor Recreation segment includes the outdoor cooking brand Camp Chef and golf products from Bushnell.
Vista Outdoor had a record quarter across the company, with sales up 38% to $ 663 million. Gross profit rose 93% across the company to $ 241 million.
The results relate to the three-month period ended June 27, 2021, the first quarter of the company’s fiscal year 2022.
In January, the company completed the purchase of QuietKat, a Colorado-based e-bike brand that is active in the Action Sports reporting segment alongside Bell and Giro. QuietKat’s income and expenses were included in the financials for the first quarter.
Vista Outdoor forecasts second quarter sales in a series of $ 710 million to $ 730 million, compared to $ 575 million in the year-ago quarter. They forecast earnings per share in a range of $ 1.70 to $ 1.80, compared to $ 1.10 of adjusted EPS in the same quarter of the previous year.
