FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Yosemite National Park officials announced Friday that all visitors planning a nightly via ferrata will need a permit.
The nocturnal wilderness climbing permits are required from May 21, 2021.
Park officials said the two-year pilot program will be used to gather information on how visitors use Yosemite’s great walls, improve climbing ethics and reduce the negative human impacts associated with using tall walls overnight.
The permits will be available from May 14, 2021 at 8:00 a.m.
